The Lee & Gund Foundation proudly supports the Nema Foundation's 2008 secondary school scholarship program. The UK-based charity has utilized our support to enable ten exceptional young people in Northern Mozambique to continue their education and subsequently help lift themselves, their families, and their communities out of poverty.
Through innovative, community-driven projects in the areas of water, health, education, enterprise, and the environment, the Nema Foundation strives to relieve poverty and protect the environment in rural areas of Northern Mozambique. One of the unique aspects of Nema's work is the group's commitment to understanding each community in which it works, to help address the most pertinent problems first. In addition to providing scholarships, many of Nema's projects are designed to advance the social interests of women and promote sustainability in the region.
