Institute for Public Accuracy (IPA)

The Institute for Public Accuracy has worked with numerous veterans’ organizations over the years, amplifying the stories of Americans most affected by war—veterans (including newly returned soldiers), active duty resisters, and military families—and exploring what it means to “support the troops.”

IPA has worked with Veterans for Peace, Iraq Veterans Against the War, and other groups to encourage and help soldiers find incident reports of events they have knowledge about in the Afghan War Diary database page and fill in the blanks. IPA is highly sensitive to the various needs of veterans. Some may simply want to document things, while others may want to speak publicly—IPA aims to accommodate them all. The organization plans to build a structure independent of the WikiLeaks database that fleshes out the daily war reports and put a human face on the reports and the war.
