Cultural Survival

Cultural Survival partners with indigenous communities to defend their lands, languages, and cultures. The organization assists these communities in obtaining the knowledge, advocacy tools, and strategic partnerships needed to protect their rights. When governments don’t respond, Cultural Survival partners with communities to bring their cases to international commissions and courts, and becomes involved with policy makers in advocating for their rights. In addition, Cultural Survival produces the Cultural Survival Quarterly, a trusted source of information on indigenous peoples that has been published for more than 37 years.

A 2011 grant from the Cultures of Resistance Network supported Cultural Survival’s work in bringing justice to the women of the Samburu, whose rape claims have been repeatedly ignored by the UK’s Royal Military Police.
